Macadam is a new breed of female-fronted rock in the Northwest. Since their first gig in the summer of 2005 the band has paved the way for a fresh Portland, OR scene. Nicole DeCosta’s sultry voice and delivery seduces attention. Guitarist Travis Hendricks\' riff’s sugar coat the band’s sweet sound with heavy undertones. Bart NoPicnic completes the puzzle. Both live and on recorded tracks, the band comes across as playful yet serious, accomplished yet adventurous.
History of the Future, Macadam\'s first release asks listeners the question, “where has Macadam been in the past?” The 11 tracks show many different sides to the band, from slow songs that build to a heroic closure to songs that grip the listener through a whirlwind musical circus. History of the Future emulates the complexity of life (Great Date, What Am I Supposed to Do), the dramas (Runaway), the joys (Suburbia), the daily grind and role we each play in a world so fragile (History of the Future, Scientist).
Portland, OR radio (Z100 100.3 FM, 101.1 KUFO), television (KPDX49, PDXPosed, FOX), newspapers (Lake Oswego Review, West Linn Tidings, Portland Tribune, The Bee, Willamette Week) and businesses caught on to the band’s campaign to raise money and awareness to Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital in Portland.
Starting the twice-annual Rock Dogs event, Macadam continues to coordinate the bill which includes an evening of music, raffles and money raised for the non-profit organization.
Finding a passion through songs about the environment, the band hopes History of the Future’s lyrics make people think, their live show let people dance and their music makes people smile. It’s worked so far, and they\'re in it for the long haul.

Nicole Decosta kicks ass. She is the quintessential rocker chick -- this classy, petite, bubbly lady who takes the stage and morphs into someone who can totally rock out and bring the crowd to its feet. Her strong, sultry, rich voice harkens Gwen Stefani. Macadam is a fun band to listen to and a fun band to watch. Anyone who lives in Portland should take advantage of their live shows -- you\'ll feel like you\'re in on a great secret that the rest of the world is missing out on.

Macadam not only makes you rock out, but they make you reminisce. About past loves, about new ones, and about the future [of course]. Nicole\'s voice is unique and soothing in the way it dances through the guitar and drums that drive the tracks. My favorite, by far, is \"What Am I Supposed To Do.\"
If you get a chance - catch them live in Portland, IMMEDIATELY.

While the \"History of the Future\" has been on my iPod for nearly a year, it never gets old. Catching a Macadam show proves that they not only have the chops in the studio, but they can rock any local venue. Macadam gives us all an excuse to get out in Portland, have a good time, enjoy some tunes and meet new people. Not only are they talented and entertaining, they provide the soundtrack for a place just as unique as their sound.
