Album Notes

And Here’s To You is a collection of jazz standards and original tunes that are right from the heart. Intimate, sensitive, classic, inventive, unpretentious, and with an easy groove. The listener can’t help but be drawn into the same wave length that this duo extraordinaire felt when they combined the sounds of the guitar, voice and violin.

The album is dedicated to Joe Beck who conceived of the duo idea, but his time with us
was over before it could be completed. He passed away in 2008. There are added tracks in remembrance by long time friends Pete Levin, melodica; Warren Bernhardt, piano; and Mike Mainieri, on vibes. (check out their websites www.Petelevin.com ; www.Warrenbernhardt.com ; and www.Mikemainieri.com )

Joe’s compositions, What Would I Do Without You, Lullaby, and the title cut are true
evidence of his remarkable talent. Betty’s lyrics compliment the music perfectly, just
as the sounds they weave together in10 of the cuts on the album.
Betty’s voice is pure velvet and accompanied with seasoned excellence by Joe’s guitar.
Their instruments have a warm natural blend that is born of their long time friendship
and part of the musical family that they grew up in.
Both musicians have developed their own unique style and their music is melodic with
a personal touch that speaks to the listener.

Joe was not only a musician but a composer, arranger, producer, innovator, and ace
studio musician. The artists that he played with reads like a Who’s Who in the World
of all kinds of music – jazz, pop, rock, R& B, Latin, and classical….Sinatra, James Brown, Miles Davis, Gil Evans, Esther Phillips, Paul Simon…..
Betty’s background is equally as eclectic which comes through in the music. She has
earned the title of Queen of Jazz in the Hudson Valley for her many years as performing
artist and radio personality on WDST. (website: www.macdeemusic.com )

This is the kind of CD that will become a favorite in your collection and easily one you’ll
play over and over.
