The Mach IV introduce ELEKI! - Hypersonic sounds for the Jet-Age sophisticate! The Mach IV take their inspiration from the instrumental sounds of the early '60s - the reverb of Surf Music, the twang of Spaghetti Western, and the echo of the European Sound. Mix it all together with the expertize of seasoned musicians and the kinetics of juvenile attitude, and you've got it - ELEKI!
The Mach IV, based in San Francisco, California, are deeply committed to the traditional sound of Jazzmasters, Jaguars, tank reverbs and the subtle grooves of the early sixties surfing sound. By no means an oldies band, they play the music as a vital and continuing force. Original tunes stand along side greats by The Astronauts, The Shadows, The Ventures and lesser known bands like Les Jaguars, Richie Podolar, and many more. Hypersonic sounds for the Jet-Age sophisticate, indeed.
Though the Mach IV was founded in 2001, the quartet have a long pedigree in the instrumental music genre. Guitarist Mel Waldorf led Montreal's Los Mel-tones through hundreds of gigs and two CDs before moving to the Bay Area to play with twang rockers The Alvarados. Shigemi "Shig 33" Komiyama, drummer extraordinaire, provides the beat for El Destroyo, The Shitones and Shig and Buzz, played with Hot Tuna, and once shared the stage with Yoko Ono. Guitarist Ferenc Dobronyi is the leader of Pollo Del Mar, now going into their second decade of surf rock. Bassist Johnny Hamilton also plays for the Berzerkers and Shig and Buzz.

60's Eleki Sound Recreated PERFECTLY!
author: Kevin Kamphaus
WOW! I can't say enough good things about this CD!! The MACH IV is the the cream of the Northern California surf scene. Members from Shig & Buzz, Pollo Del Mar, Los Mel-Tones, and Meshugga Beach Party and I recommend ANYTHING by those groups as well. There isn't a bad or even mediocre track here. Right out of the chute were hear a familiar yet new track with a Penetration type riff called Astro Boy and the fun just doesn't stop until it winds down with a nice, smooth, mellow track called No Surf Today, which closes the entire collection nicely. If you like the sounds of the old Japanese Eleki bands of the 60's than you'll surely LOVE this too

Killer Surf Music !!
author: Tim Comella
The Mach IV are both FRESH, and Traditional Surf all at the same time. The tunes on this CD range from jungle beat on the beach in the opening track, through flamenco laced Spaghetti Western motifs, and of course the fun loving, good-times SURF tunes that hearken back to a time of fun, of innocence, and of freedom. Superb musicianship throughout, from the reverb-laced guitars, to the solid rhythm of drums and bass. Not a bad track on the entire CD, which is why the Mach IV were inserted into my player a week and a half ago, and I haven't pushed the Eject button since. Just superb!!
