Album Notes

In making my album, "HADDA WOMAN", I tried to make an album that I would want to purchase myself.... The kind of music that Interests ME.

The PURPOSE of this music is to make you feel good when you hear it - to make you feel victorious. My initial goal was to simply make interesting sounds, if you agree the sounds are interesting, then I'm happy.

I try to avoid a machine-like feel to my music.

My musical heroes growing up were Lightnin' Hopkins, Elizabeth Cotton, and Mississippi John Hurt.

Growing up, we'd all play around the house.

My dad played lap-style steel guitar (1928 Martin 0040-H), and my mom played rythym on a mahogony Martin.

They actually had a regular radio spot in NYC during the Hawaiin craze in the 1920's.

They used the gypsy names "Guisseppi & Guitanella".

In the 60's, my younger sister played tenor guitar, my brother played 5-string banjo, and I'd play lead and harmony behind my dad's steel.

We'd go out and play "old folks homes" and the like - strictly on an amatuer basis.
