I grew upin a musical family: we all played several instruments - whatever was laying around. My dad played violin and lap steel, my mom played cello and rhythm guitar, my brother played banjo, and my sisters played tenor guitars. I played mostly guitar, and was totally TRANSFIXED by Carlos Montoya, the gifted Gypsy Flamenco player. Then I heard Elizabeth Cotten finger picking, and Lightning Hopkins playing accoustic blues; and I new I wanted to DO THAT!!! We moved around alot when I was growing up, so I was influenced by lots of different local musical styles, too. I lived for 20 years in Cleveland, Ohio; one of the truly GREAT musical towns in America! Cleveland SUPPORTS it's music!!
I'm an independent musician, publishing under my own label (JumpStreet/Three Eye), and currently live in Indianaplois, Indiana. My first CD, "HADDA WOMAN" (released in 2001)has done very well, and has lead to more gigs than I could handle! My new one, "Drivin' All Night" was released Sept, 27, 2006 and is a Genre-Defying Adventure Into Ecclectic Independence! It has a few clearly Bluegrass tunes on it, several Roots-Blues cuts, and alot that's harder for me to describe. I believe an album should be INTERESTING above all else, and that's what I've tried to do. I play a variety of instrumenta on this new CD, including guitars, mandoline, dobro, keyboards, and synthesizer. I hope you like it!!!
