Maclovia Martel's inception into the music scene is like that of the late sixties songstress Janis Joplin. Both studied art before transfering that expression over to music. Maclovia was a fine arts major at the Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles before she began recording with such budding artists like Carla Bozulich (The Geraldine Fibbers),
Darren Hahn (Annie Defranco), Larry Ciancia (Fiona Apple,Ben Taylor, Carly Simmon), Rusty Baker( Everlast), And PJ Olsson
(Columbia Records Recording Artist). Stylings akin to such luminaries as Chrissie Hyde, Grace Slick and Johnette Napolitano ( Concrete Blonde), all set to a backdrop of infectious melodies that are propelled by a soulful rhythm section. She has recieved the attention of local radio stations KCRW and KLOS for her 5 song EP "Hero" (produced by Dustin Boyer of Descanso).
Her performance roster is an impressive list that include shows at the Whiskey A GO GO, The Viper Room, Highland Grouns and Luna Park.
