Greg's new release, ‘There But For Fortune’ deals primarily with the affect of U.S. policy in the post 911 era. The title song, ‘There But For Fortune’, was written in the 60’s by folk artist Phil Ochs. Forty years later it’s still relevant. Greg avoids being overly preachy or judgmental. As one fan said about the song ‘Last Letter Home’, ‘you never say you’re against the war but it’s clear you are’. Here are some other UNSOLICITED comments about the CD from other musicians:
‘Really proud you let me be part of it.’
I know someone who would really like your album so I'd like to buy one as a gift for them.’
‘Well to start, I love the song! Absolutely my favorite kind of tune, melodic, great lyrics, a real nice song Greg.’
‘First I have to tell you that I love this tune! What a brilliant lyric. The uplifting feel really counter balances the gravity of the theme.‘
The song 'Last Letter Home' will be featured on the upcoming Acoustic Rainbow release.

Terrific CD with a timely message

This CD consistently puts the current conflict into a very "common sense" type of perspective. It doesn't rant or rave, it just asks you to think about what's really important in life. The music is just the right compliment for the lyrics and the lead licks are terrific. Definitely a keeper!

A finely crafted collection of songs written for those most effected and least a
author: jim cole
I have known Greg since we were 14 years old. He is my first real musical influence. The first serious musican singer/songwriter I would learn from. His latest record, There but for Fortune, is a finely crafted socially conscious collection of songs written from the perspective of those most effected and least able to effect a change regarding the current situation in Iraq.
My personal favorites are, The Call to War and One Day in a Different World. Greg very skillfully wrote most of these songs from an every man's perspective and while passionate, he manages to avoid the polarizing and vitriolic language that is typical of most socially conscious music.
While the subject matter is fairly intense I found myself strangely comforted by what I heard. His music sounds like a fully matured version of what we were listening and giving ourselves to back when his 1972 GMC pick up truck was brand new.

Great CD... I have trouble deciding which song is my favorite!
author: Don Szumnarski
Great tunes.. great lyrics... great vocals and guitar work. I currently think Play The Hero is my favorite song but I've changed my mind several times. I enjoy the different genres or flavors of music and some of those lyrics (throughout the CD) are amazingly poignant. This is good stuff. Why are we all fighting?
