Album Notes

Johnny Maddox is one of the leading ragtime piano players of all time. He was America's number one jukebox artist in 1955 when he recorded the first all-piano record in history, "The Crazy Otto Medley". This reissue celebrates the 50th anniversary of that legendary recording which spent 14 weeks at the top of the charts, and became the first ragtime record to sell more than 1,000,000 copies, eventually selling more than 2,000,000. Johnny was the first artist of Dot Records, and his instant success helped build the label into one of the most successful labels in the 50's. During his tenure with Dot, he racked up 9 gold singles with total record sales of over 11,000,000. Johnny even has his own star on Hollywood Boulevard.

REVIEWS

An all time great CD
author: Rosemary Maxey
This CD is on my list of music that I have enjoyed the most through the years. 5 stars is the limit here, but I think it deserves many more. I play it every day at least once, sometimes more. I like all Johnny Maddox CD's, but this one is tied for first place among my favorites.
