This first DIY demo recording of Madeline Roa's, was just a sampling of her first works recorded in her own home. She recorded the songs using a basic lo-fi 4-track, her acoustic guitar, and drum machine, and her vocals. After several requests to make it available for sale, she decided to record and burn them for distribution during her local shows, in which she has sold several hundred.
This limited edition is now sold out and is no longer being replicated. You can, however, still purchase tracks through various digital distribution sites such as itunes.com. Her first studio produced, fully orchestrated CD "Reflection" is available at CDbaby and during her performances. The song "Another Fallen Soldier", which recieved much attention and radio airplay was the only song re-recorded on her latest CD.
Here are some of her early reviews of her performances and her demo recordings...
When (Madeline) Roa steps to the microphone on the low stage at Old Ironsides downtown, all eyes....are fixed on her as she leans into a song about the Iraq war.
And when she finishes, the listeners applaud warmly. Some even whoop for her.
She smiles. Doing this makes her happy.

The Beauty of Songwriting
Q: What do you get when you mix thigh high stockings and good songwriting?
A: MY ATTENTION! As well as every other warm blooded American in the room. Madeline Roa is HOT!

Here's what people are saying...
(Her) Music (is)very melodic . The guitar structure reminds me of the old school underground alternative ( Concrete Blonde almost ). I think the songwriting is well done ... The female lead is well done ....
Well the music is always the 2nd thing I look at as a scout, the first being a picture ( to make sure you don't have two heads ). I like what I see image wise (speaking of her band). Girl lead, cultural diversity, small band.

Nice pop sounding songs w/ some serious/heavy lyrics that remind me of Natalie Merchant vocals.

Roa Really Rocks!
author: Keith Pyle
A good mix of songs that are very different from each other, yet still maintain a consistent charm. Lillith Fair surely awaits Ms. Roa's imminent arrival.
