"The Light Of Reason" (©2006)
Produced by Dean Madonia
Mixed by Dean Madonia and Craig Lozowick
Mastered by Spencer Secoy at Ridenour Studios
"The Light Of Reason," is the long-awaited follow-up to his well-received 1998 solo debut "Deep Sky." Here is what the critics have to say about Dean:
"...the best songs on "Reason" are “American Love Song” (with its Beatles White Album feel at the beginning and end) and “No Tomorrow,” a hard-driving song that could easily be a radio hit." Revue Magazine
Known best for his vocal ability "..his range is considerable, his delivery relaxed...” (Bill Meredith XS Magazine),
Dean has been compared to, "...the late Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon, and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder" (Maxine Hinds - MTV College Stringer).
His writing on "Deep Sky" has received high praise as well: "a great musical work, with good hooks, instrumentation, vocal displays, and messages. (Deborah Toby - Jam Magazine)
especially the lyrics, "...great lyrics and gets me to think of guys like Kevin Gilbert, David Sylvian and Bryan Ferry. Bloody good album." (Par Winberg - Midwestern Skies).
A series of setbacks including the loss of Dean’s right ring-finger, numerous side projects, computer malfunctions and subsequent re-tracking and re-mixing after relocating to Nashville slowed the release of ”The Light Of Reason.” The CD features Dean on Vocals, guitar, keyboards and bass with help from the Dean Madonia Band (Florida):
Val Evans - guitar
Cory Mauro - bass
Scott Tryon - drums
There are also several notable guest appearances including top Miami session guitarist Dan Warner who appears on the track, "The Raft Of the Medusa," which also features Miami based, Cuban singer/songwriter Rene Alverez, and former Wyscan band-mate, bassist/producer Javiar Carrion. Javier also plays on the track "What Do You Feel."

What happened to progressive rock? It became independent... and moved to Nashvil

Dean Madonia is either 20 years too late, or 5 years too early. Sooner or later, pop culture will re-embrace something more meaningful than bell-bottoms or Cindy Lauper.
Dean Madonia could easily have been the songwriter/frontman for prog-rock kings Kansas. The production on "The Light of Reason" is up-to-date, the songs tight, and the lyrics plaintive and heartfelt. Crafty musicianship enhances the songs, but you can feel the singer-songwriter at the heart of each piece.
You don't hear many albums like this anymore.

"A well performed and produced album, which gives a good insight into Dean's talent. It is good to come across an Adult Alternative album that lives up to its musical genre."
