Album Notes

Madras proudly announces the release of their six-song EP,
"Dimestore Raves".

This marks the second effort of the L.A. based pop/rock quartet, which came together when East Coast transplants Dan Luperini(vocal/guitar) and Mark Tuminello (Bass) joined forces with southern California natives, Marc Thomas (guitar) and Derek Syverud (drums).

Showcased throughout Dimestore Raves, is Madras' signature command of melody. However, with this most recent set comes new explorations in emotional dynamics and instrumental expression, evident in tracks like "Great Wide Spinout", which was mixed with assistance from Mikal Reid, who's credits include production and mixing on Ben Harper's debut album, Welcome to the Cruel World.

The arrival of Dimestore Raves comes on the heels of an exciting year for Madras. In the 2003-2004 academic year, Madras' first release was added at more than 220 college radio stations across the U.S. and Canada.

Fueled by the single "Slow the Tide", longtime leader at Garageband.com,
the success of the first disc paralleled Madras' noteworthy break onto the L.A. music scene. In less than 2 years time, the fledgling unit went from smaller off-the-beaten-path rooms and intimate audiences to bringing substantial crowds to more renowned Hollywood Venues like Club Vynyl (nka Club 1650) and the famous Viper Room on the Sunset Strip.

With the release of Dimestore Raves, Madras continues bringing their music to clubs and airwaves both local and nationwide.

Fantastic Album

This is a fantastic album. The songs are unique and innovative and the vocals are seminal. "Bitter Pill" in particular stands out as an excellant song. Hopefully we will be seeing, and much more importantly hearing, far more of Madras in the future.

Original, quirky, well thought out rock.

Loved this CD. Provides variation, but in the context of simple pop / rock. Can be listened to in the background, or at volume to get involved in the detail that this band have gone into with their arrangements. If you wanted to like Genesis, or Rush, but were always too embarrassed, then this is for you. Cool, but brainy music, and should appeal to almost anyone.

This CD kicks butt!!

I am a personal friend of Marc Thomas, the guitarist for Madras, and I have to say, it's the best work that they have done so far. The song "Go>On" has an incredible guitar solo that will blow you away. Other great tracks on this CD are "Hollows" and "Bitter Pill". The album is very meaningful, as it has many lyrics that have different meanings; meanings that you can interpret in your own way.
