Mike and Amy Finders Band
"My Friends Told Me It Would Never Last"
www.mikeandamyfinders.com
Blessed with a spunky, charming personality and a powerful, soulful voice that can go from the effervescent, clearwater high-country sound of, say, Dolly Parton, to the sultry, sassy, swinging blues of a young Maria Muldaur, Amy Finders grabs a lot of the attention in this exemplary bluegrass/Americana revue.
Best known for his writing skills (he's a two-time winner -- and in two different genres -- of MerleFest's prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest), Mike Finders also is an accomplished guitarist and an impressively versatile vocalist, both as a soloist and as a duet partner.
Still, as with the more successful (but otherwise very similar) Alison Krauss & Union Station, the Finders Band draws its strength and appeal from a deep and broad-based foundation, including locked-in musicianship.
The brand-new "My Friends Told Me..." rounds up 16 luminous, pan-genre "live" performances culled from various configurations of the Mike & Amy band over the past seven years, featuring typically sterling contributions by Al Murphy, Liz Kennedy, Billy Valencia, Dustin Busch and Jake Breitbach.
Despite its multiple sources, the disc's sound fairly shimmers, offering a near-seamless concert experience that blends cool covers and enviable originals with the Finders Band's easy-going humor and inclusive, back porch hospitality.

My Friends Told Me It Would Never Last
author: Kim GreenThese folks sure know how to make music and can easily hold their own against such groups as Allison Krauss and Union Station. Anyone who hears the music of Mike and Amy Finders will not be disappointed.

Like the previous albums, the Finders continue to demonstrate their remarkable talent. We have three of their CDs and are looking forward to the release of the next. All of the music by the Finders is money well spent, and any fan should try to attend one of their performances. We first heard them at Monroe City, MO and have been fascinated ever since. Anyone who hears this music will become instant fans. Keep it up, Mike and Amy, you're great.
"Never Last"
author: Bill CordesHi, Mike and Amy: We really enjoy your new CD and the selections from the past 10 years. Amy, your voice just knocks us out; it's a great gift you have. (We like Mike, too.) Hope we get to see you somewhere this year. Your friends, Bill and Karen Cordes Peoria, IL
Like a River
author: Gregory CarrierExcellent representation of their live act over the past few years. Their version of Kate Wolf's "Like a River" is worth the price alone. Buy this and see them live next time you get a chance.
The Thrill Ain't Gone...
author: Ingrid ElizabethI'm an old friend of the Finders, and I feel blessed not only to have shared the stage with them, but also to know them and been a part of their journey together. Their musical & love partnership is inspiring, and all the triumphs and trials over the last 10 years pay off in their air-tight folkgrass sound. Between Mike's fail-proof songwriting & the well-chosen covers, this CD gives a true taste of the live Finders experience. Nice to hear the old songs done up purdy ("Sayin No", "Weeping Willow" & "Man in the Kitchen"), my favorite live covers ("Like a River", "Thrill is Gone", and "Mighty Mississippi"),and the new tunes since I heard them last ("That First Stone" and "I'll Keep Lovin You"). Worth every penny!!
