New wibe
author: Mia Andrea Jacobsen
I was drooling over this CD for quite a while before I bought it and I am glad I did as it brings a new wibe to my music collection. I am also glad I bought this particular one mainly because it seemed more alternative than the newest one. First track is sadly also the best.

polemic and perfect

If you appreciate good graphic design, this record is worth the sticker price alone. The photo of Magdalen and her hair, offset by the vermilion background, is one of the best album covers I've seen in a while.
But fancy packaging aside, Fire is Magdalen's best record yet. The album is political, but Magdalen doesn't strive to be polemic at the expense of the music. Instead, she delivers twelve intelligent pop songs, sung with bravado and grace, like the lilting "Redefinition."
If you are fortunate enough to live in Seattle -- or Austin, Boston, New York, or any of the cities where Magdalen makes her rounds, I would strongly recommend that you stop in for a show. And if you're booking shows for the college circuit, book Magdalen. To say the least, she's a professional and an engaging performer.

Fabulous

Why wasn't I fortunate enough to hear this woman sooner?! This album is just fantastic. Thought provoking and emotionally charged lyrics delivered by one of the most beautiful voices in the biz. I must have had my head in the ground to have missed her in Seattle (my hometown) when she was making this album there. Got to love music that makes you think and feel at the same time.
