Deborah Magdalena - Short Biography
Whether she's hosting a spoken word event, or playing a santera, a deputy, comedic characters, or a vixen, Deborah Magdalena brings authenticity and panache to the stage and screen. Now she intends to bare her poetic soul in her first spoken word CD Spoken Soul: A Survival Kit of Poetry.
Coming from an elite musical family - brother is famed Latin GRAMMY winning Jazz Flutist Nestor Torres - it was a natural evolution for her to combine music with her very personal writing and acting skills. Deborah spent one full year honing her spoken word craft in various poetry venues in Los Angeles and Miami.
She finally joined forces with producers of the likes of Brandon K. Olmos, son of Edward James Olmos. "Deborah is soul, everything she does has soul. When I heard her poetry for the first time it was spoken soul. It was something I had never heard or witnessed before - says Brandon" Thus the title of her CD.
Deborah's father, master pianist Nestor Torres Sr. - affectionately known as don Nestor - accompanies one of her poems purposely titled Dear Daddy. "Musically collaborating with my dad has helped me heal so many of my male issues, throughout many lifetimes." declares an emotional daughter.
Presently, on her promotional tour of - Spoken Soul: A Survival Kit of Poetry - throughout the country, Deborah continues to work on her notable first manuscript Letter to the Men I Love. Which was showcased in Miami last summer.
"I want to live life, love life, celebrate my culture and publicly heal, in hopes to inspire others to do so. It's not about WHAT you are; it's about WHO you are - Deborah Magdalena

Food for the soul !!!
author: The once called "Toxic Loud Football Coach"
When a multi-talented artist finally decides to share one of her many talents, and combines it with an interesting life experience, the results can be amazing. Music and Poetry come-and-go like most people that walk in and out of our lives. But only those special ones, like the words of Deborah's work, leave footprints in our hearts and soul.
Spoken Soul is more than a Survival kit of Poetry...it is the Survival kit of what LIFE can be. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. This CD just did...

SIMPLY INVIGORATING! That's all you need to know!
author: D A Krolak
A sizzling glide, whether sensual rolling r’s to a delicate tear drop or even sealing a poem with a kiss, it leaves you breathless. A performer like none I’ve ever seen, she embodies the kick-ass rock sentiment, right alongside the heart of a true jazz diva. Her phrasing and delivery impeccable, the emotion so implicit in her inflection, it is as if she will writhe her way through my headphones or speakers and appear like the primal urges we all try to keep at bay. This sensation keeps me listening to it night and day.
Even when the poem is in Spanish, the feeling is all too apparent. It inspires me to learn the language, if only so that my understanding can be more profound. So many talents and desires, interwoven with raw human emotion, topped off with wisdom one gains from this journey we call life!
Love ya- D
