ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
June 2007 will see the release of Magda Sinit’s debut EP titled ‘FREE TO FLY’; an exciting acoustic soul sound fused with Hip-Hop and Jazz influences and beats. It is perfectly titled for this exuberant and levelheaded individual.

‘I chose that title because its exactly how I feel in my career right now. I am ‘free to fly’ metaphorically both on stage and in the studio with ‘no hold bars’. I am both proud and excited with this EP. I feel that it is just a glimpse into what I’m about and vocally capable of doing, …….. This is me introducing myself to people, so listen loud and clear and look out for more’

The 6 tracks EP was co produced by Magda Sinit, UK Hip-Hop Producer Chemo and Patch Lunch, and was written and performed by Magda Sinit with guest appearance from UK Hip Hop Diva’s Jai and Diva Spark and also Sara Livan an up and coming singer/songwriter.

Magda Sinit’s, individual style and bubbly nature, is a magnetic force in itself. Over the last five year’s, Magda Sinit has been busy working away with a diverse range of producers and musicians. Where did it all begin? Rewind back to 1991, when at the tender age of five, Magda Sinit wrote her first song in loving memory of Joe, her younger brother who sadly passed away from a heart condition aged 3 months. The penned song ‘Joe, where did you go’ marked the beginning of her path in the world of music and performance – using her everyday experience as impetus for her songs.

When it comes to putting theses experience and emotions on paper, Magda Sinit can be seen scribbling away on various means of transport, surroundings, in a lecture room or even in the loo! Using her emotions and her inspirations as her guiding light she says;
‘.. I don’t just wanna be a singer who sings any song they’re given, I wanna express myself through singing’.

After having performed her first gig at the age of 16 in a Variety Showcase held at her local college, where she performed her first Gospel/Spiritual song titled ‘Call on him’, Magda Sinit has since performed at various venues and nights in London, Washington and New York….‘one of my most memorable shows was at the Fridge Bar, where I performed the song I wrote about my brother. The performance was quite deep, I cried towards the end… the audiences were great they silently listened and were moved by the song and really showed their appreciation.’

Magda Sinit’s natural high does not only spring from writing songs, she also gets a huge buzz from performing at live gigs and open mic shows. Musically, Magda Sinit is influenced by the likes of Nina Simone, Bob Marley, Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Tamia, the Rolling Stones and many more! Like these artists, Magda Sinit strives to write good music, which stands the test of time and is enjoyed by a broad range of people. She is an all round performer whose live sets are delivered with great passion and desire.

“… I want to be an artist who is respected for being herself and nothing but …When I’m on stage I’m at my strongest, yet I’m at my weakest… My strongest because the audience are listening, I’ve commanded their attention! My weakest because I’m expressing my true feelings with people I don’t know and I haven’t even told those closest to me… Yet it’s a feeling I’d never trade in, being able to perform to an audience who also love music as much as I do….”
