“Passionate, fresh and vital” (DARKROOM MAGAZINE)
Magicfolk began in 2003 as a quiet, well-behaved acoustic trio. In the years following, they became increasingly numerous and rambunctious with the addition of bass, drums, lead guitar and keyboards, and now work as a 6-piece.
"A compelling mix of quality female vocals, keyboards, flute, acoustic and electric guitars.” (CLASSIC ROCK SOCIETY)
Magicfolk produces its own fusion of rock, folk, celtic and prog-rock with rich vocal harmonies, in songs with mythological and mystic leanings.
Grounded in acoustic instrumentation, their songs often develop into raucous rock, jazz and psychedelic improvisations. They also have gentle songs which take you to other more restful places.
They launched their debut album in 2007 and their 2nd is scheduled for release on the 28th November 2011.
“Genuinely something new for fans of esoteric folk, their lyrics sing of folklore and magic, evoking the mystery within the music" (WOVEN WHEAT WHISPERS)
"Delicately spun, visiting the perfumed garden of 60s psychedelia." (ROCK ‘N’ REEL MAGAZINE)
"Prog rock, celtic tunes and tight vocal harmony, spiked with prickly electric guitar. If you like Jethro Tull and Jefferson Airplane, you won't be disappointed.” (PAGAN DAWN MAGAZINE)
“Hugely evocative” (FIREWORKS MAGAZINE)
“Beautiful and chilling, haunting, sweet and dusty” (Sea of Tranquility Magazine)
They've been likened to Jethro Tull, Clannad, Fairport Convention, Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd, Stone Angel, Dead Can Dance, Led Zepplin, Tir Na Nog, Kate Bush, Trees, Midwinter, Mostly Autumn, White Willow and Mellow Candle.
“Memorable and beautifully arranged” (Radio Centraal Belgium)
