"Whimsical to whalloping, Blues, Boogie & More"......
- LA Reader, Los Angeles, CA
"...a holistic spiritual gutbucket organic blues goddess...and quite possibly the only one in the world ! "
- Paul Blackburn ,Musician, Rochester, NY
DEBORAH MAGONE, a native of Rochester, N.Y. hopped on a plane to L.A. at the urging of an A & R rep. from Epic records N.Y. who said that, ".....she has the potential to become something very BIG!" At a mere 5'3'' (5'4" on a good hair day) at first glance this hardly seems likely. However, listener beware! This little "Blues Mama" can belt a tune in the style of Big Mama Thornton and Janis Joplin, or soothe your soul in the vein of Billie Holiday. Often compared to Joplin, & Raitt , Deborah blends it all together to form her own "whimsical and whalloping" vocal style while struttin’ her stuff on guitar. Her fav being her lovely Les Paul crankin’ through her Marshall half stack.
At 17yrs. young, Deborah began her professional career, playing & singing illegally at a local Rochester club with "After Sundown," a country rock, blues and boogie band. Soon afterward she helped form "Wired" a high energy, hard rock band. Once one of the finest new rock bands emerging out of New York state, Wired was chosen #1 rock band out of over 200 bands by the listeners of Rochester's WCMF radio. This led to inclusion on that station's first "Homegrown Album," the keen interest of major record companies, a phone call to open up for Ozzie Osborne, as well as concert appearances with some of the top rock acts (i.e. Peter Frampton, Talas) of the day, TV and radio interviews, and the distinction of being the first female rock singer to ever play Attica State prison. "Truly a captive audience!"
At the advice of Epic Records, Deborah went to L.A. and soon joined Grammy award winner, Janice Johnson from " A Taste Of Honey", ("Boogie Oogie") while also gigging solo.
Deborah, co-starred, sang and got to show off her black belt in a film that won a gold medal at the Houston Film Festival for director/producer Jackson Bostwick (Flash Gordon) and cast. She currently produces & directs her own tv show "GreenLine ; News you can really use .." for cable access .
She's currently performing as a solo , duo and with her group " The Deborah Magone Band " which offers up some powerful music punching out Rock & Blues that'll make you see colors & feel somethin' powerful ! Catch her if you can !

I have had the pleasure of doing session work as a drummer with Deb on more than one occasion. She has a great spirit and can really wail on the 6 string. You owe it to yourself to pick up a copy of her cd. I hope to record with her on her next cd when she is ready.

What a Great Listen!

This CD really displays Deborah's musical talent as a writer of music and lyrics, and as a blues vocalist and guitarist. The live concert cuts capture the spirit of her music, and I particularly like the ballads where the lyrics really shine on "Habit Wtih You" and "Forever". Can't wait for Deborah's next CD!
