Magrus Borges- Drummer, Composer, Percussionist and Producer
Starting out his career in Brazil at the age of 16 with one of Bossa Nova's founding fathers Johnny Alf , the native dummer and percussionist from Belem, Brazil started playing and recording with a number of Brazilian artists such as : Joao de Aquino, ZeZe Motta, Luiz Melodia, Elsa Soares, and many others. He later moved to the United States and after studing at the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles, he moved to New York and later performed, recorded and toured with Astrud Gilberto, Tania Maria, Larry Coryell, Delmar Brown, Ivan Lins, Leila Peneiro, Joyce, Leo Gandelman and many others..He has 3 CD's "Magrus and The Rainforest Band", "The Rainforest Trio" and "Futurezon". Recently he recorded and performed with Grace Jones and for the last 5 years been the drummer of Bebel Gilberto ( daughter of Joao Gilberto).
Now his latest CD "Futuerzon" was created with the idea of merging Brazilian rhythms & electronic grooves into one unique concept. Also the name Futurezon means that the future is in the Amazon, and like all things precious, needs to be protected and preserved....
