Freedom of expression is power, and the force behind that power is Mahogony Diva. This New Jersey native has a reputation for uniting people from different backgrounds to one common ground. On her new cd, Is My Mic On, one can hear and feel the influence in her words as her lush, emotionally intense voice goes deep within the surface of the skin. Diva is known for breaking the barriers and placing truth directly in the face of the world. Her urban philosophy speaks of the emotional challenges and direct social interactions that people deal with on a daily basis. She is focused on promoting self awareness not only within herself, but within the souls of her peers as well. Angel, Goddess, Phenomenal, Queen, Inspirational, and Friend. All these words have been used to describe Mahogony Diva.

Mahogony Diva is a writer, published author, spoken-word artist, graphic designer, and mentor. In 2005, Mahogony Diva published her first book, “Soulful Whispers.” The book is a collection of poetry that touches on subjects such as love, lust, relationships, and life in the urban communities. Diva gave the world another great collection of poetic prose’s in 2007 with her second book, “Mind Music”. Both books have been collector items for many, and continue to climb the charts in sales. Diva has been compared to many poetic icons, such as Nikki Giovanni and Maya Angelou. Although she is humbled by these comparisons, she feels that she would like to be classified as having her own style; mixing spoken word poetry with a mellow bass lines and symphonic trebles. Her voice has been labeled as "hypnotic" accompanied by earth tones.

"Is My Mic On" has been long overdue. Mahogony Diva expresses herself, accompanied by the jazzy sounds of producer Truth Theory, the grooves of producer The NxtLeveL, and the melodic sounds of producer Dirigent. This cd is 19 tracks of Mahogony Diva sharing from her own perspective of life. This title track, Is My Mic On, gives you an idea of what it’s like to be in the presence of the DIVA. This cd is musical testament of trials and triumphs of life; hers and everyone else.
