ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
About the Album: In Spiritual Healing Queen Makedah delivers the healing power of praise in a blessed brew of Roots music that melds rich velvet-soul vocals over muscular Roots Reggae rhythms. The album is a power-packed collection of songs inspired by the Psalms of David, giving a contemporary spin on age-old messages of struggle and triumph, gratitude and healing. Overall, is an excellent follow-up to Queen Makedah's freshman album, The Awakening, co-produced by 'Nyibingi Specialist' Ras Michael and The Sons of Negus, whose tracks 'Lost Everything,' 'Universal Language,' and 'Deliver Us' received great reviews and support from Roots Reggae dj's and fans in the U.S. and Europe. Spiritual Healing will be regionally released on January 15, 2010 in the Bay Area of California and can be purchased at www.cdbaby.com or www.ebreggae.com. DJ reviews, requests for interviews or give away copies can be sent to oriyahmusic@aol.com.

Notable Credits: Spiritual Healing is a stellar display of the virgin production talents of co-writer/producer Tuviel 'Chariot' Levi, whose influences include The Gladiators, The Abyssinians, Steel Pulse and Aswad. Tuviel has worked with Roots Reggae groups Rahsul, Roots Africa (founded by the original bass player for Alpha Blondy), Ras Michael and the Sons of Negus and ‘Lion’ (bassist for Joseph Hill of Culture). In addition, the album features one of the Caribbean's rising talents, Ras Bakim, a Singer/Songwriter from St. Croix, who adds his sultry vocals on the duet, Healer, with Queen Makedah.

"(About Lift You Up) This effervescent, life-affirming roots tune has the feel of classic and deserves much exposure." (ReggaeReviews.com)
