Malachi started playing guitar around the age of 10. His mother played piano and organ in church, but there were no guitars. There was the usual traditional singing of old hymns, and honestly as a kid he thought church was a pretty boring place and nothing more than a ritual. As he got into his teenage years and especially after getting hurt by that first girlfriend, he started drinking and smoking marijuana and slowly turned away from the faith and stayed away until the storms caused by a life of sin, took their toll.

While Malachi was going through his second divorce, he came across the guys that he used to play in a band with and found out they had stopped playing in nightclubs and had started playing guitar and bass in church, and they invited him to join them. At church, he accepted the Lord's invitation and flooded the altar with tears of repentance and gave his heart to Jesus. Although there were some issues that the Lord had to help Malachi with, he started growing in faith and getting some wrong attitudes in his life cleaned up.

The Lord soon began giving Malachi songs, and the Lord opened doors for him to minister the music that had been given to him. The Lord gave him a vision for this first project which is stated in Malachi 4:6, "And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers,…" His God given goal for music ministry is to use the songs to break through the generational barriers that satan had begun construction on years ago, to separate us from our children.

In John 17:21, Jesus prayed that we would be one in Him as He is one with the Father.
That is why this project is called "Run to the Father." Malachi thanks the Lord and Solid Rock Radio that these songs are going into the world as the Lord had promised. Malachi states, "Let us choose to receive correction, because the Lord only corrects those whom He loves, and let us without hesitation, Run to the Father."
