Album Notes

Before Robert Baker became Reverend Bakerbop in his current spoken word incarnation, Bopaphonics, he recorded a solo EP of his spoken word "malarkey" with the owners of Zgwonth studios in Lawrence Kansas (the La-La Land of Kansas - a Midwest musical mecca). The tracks contained on this cult CD generated major label interest & a second full length thematic Malarkey CD, Chameleon.

"Falling somewhere between jazzy world music and manic spoken word, Robert Baker's spoken word portraits are underlined by saxophone, bass, guitar and percussion..the words stand true, with wit, in a field usually overrun by pretensions, which are thankfully absent on this disc...the only complaint I have is that the disc is too short." - Anne Tangeman, Lawrence Journal World

Malarkey:

Robert Baker: words, sax

rhythm section - Colin Mahoney, drums and Brian Schey, guitar and bass; Additional homemade percussion on Cheaper Than Therapy, Tom Krause
