Album Notes

Savvy wordsmith, Malevolent MC, brings a unique and intelligent form of Hip-Hop to the Salt Lake valley. Born in New York City as Ian Sanabria, he relocated to Utah around the age of 2 and developed an early interest in expression. During his formative years in school, a creative writing teacher encouraged Ian to shift the focus of his developing slam poetry to the songwriting realm. He took this teacher’s advice and created the alias Malevolent MC, which described his political mentality as well as his habit of attacking tracks with aggression.

When listening to Malevolent MC one notices a commanding voice delivering intricate rhymes that touch on both personal poetry and meaningful commentary about current societal issues. Malevolent is definitely not attempting to follow any one route to make a certain sound for himself, but he’s happy to remain “outside the box” in both his vibe and appeal. This should certainly leave his listeners not knowing what to expect next from the young MC and Ian himself firmly at the top of his creative game.
