Kim Malmquist has studied music and conducting at the conservatory Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot and at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He has received a scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music of Sweden. Kim Malmquist works as a pianist, composer and conductor. He has appeared as chamber musician and piano soloist in Swedish National Broadcasting. Kim Malmquist has also composed film music which has been performed in Swedish National Television. Fragile Water is a collection of piano poems composed during the years 2004 and 2005. In this recording they are performed by the composer himself. "Capturing the different nuances of the water element in music has been a challenge and an inspiration when composing these pieces.",says Kim Malmquist. Here you find everything from the powerful movements of the open sea to the subtle poetry of drops of water.
