notes
While many bands have the life span of a cold can of beer at a 4th of July picnic, Mama Digdown's Brass Band is still going strong after a decade of recording and performing live music around the country. The band celebrates its ten year anniversary with this new album, "Digdown Decade: Best of Mama Digdown's"
Not only has Mama Digdown's been regulars of the Midwest music scene, they are also regulars in the city of New Orleans. Seven years ago, Digdown's first album made its way into the jukebox of a New Orleans jazz club, Donna's Bar. Shortly after that, the band was asked to come down and play at the club. Since then, the band has made nearly 30 trips to the Crescent City performing at clubs, parties, and parades all over the city.
Mama Digdown's has formed close relationships with many of the brass band in New Orleans such as The Rebirth Brass Band, Dirty Dozen and the Hot 8. It is not unusual to see members of these bands and others joining Digdown's onstage at their shows in New Orleans.
The Digdown Decade features Mama Digdown's most requested songs and ones that have recieved the most significant radio air-play. The album also includes two songs that are previously unreleased on previous Mama Digdown's albums.

Funky good time
author: RustyIf you can't catch these guys live this is as good as it gets. It spans all their stuff. Roc always keeps it bumpin! Don't pass on this if you like to shake what yo mamma gave ya!
Sweet...
author: CliffjbSaw these guys at Donna's, NO last year (Feb 05) and have only just managed to get a CD or two of their's over here in the UK. No disappointments at all - awesome stuff.
Mass quantities of Funky Goodness.
author: ScottThis complilation has all the jazzy, funky, dixielandy, this-ain't-your-momma's-marching-band goodness that I can get before I'm exhausted with it all. A very diverse, very long, very fun collection. I highly recommend it for all backyard barbecues and private bedroom dance sessions.
Tasty and spectacular! A must for all brass band lovers!!

It don't get much better than this when it comes to New Orleans second-line brass band music. Full of energy, pumped full of swinging and bumping, shuffling and shaking, Mama Dig Down's band serves up the hottest, spiciest most vital and blood-boiling arrangements. Quickly earning a reputation in New Orleans as a band with the personality and spirit to ensnare and liven up audiences, their clean precision and animated delivery makes for an album of pure entertainment. There's no doubt about it, this is one helluva good time.
