notes

Mama Zeus was formed (in its present incarnation) in February of 1996. We're definitely a rock band, but our influences are extremely varied -everything from 60's and 70's rock -Zep, Free, The Beatles, to newer artists like Jeff Buckley and Stone Temple Pilots to R&B, funk and folk. Our self-produced first album, Inside #21, has sold well in Las Vegas and helped to solidify our growing cult following.
We've had a lot of luck as far as public reception and opportunities to open for national acts. Our first gig was an opening slot for Missing Persons (not really our thing, but a cool chance, ya know?). We've also played with Robin Trower, Nazareth, Sponge, Extreme, Linda Perry, The Mother Hips, The Uninvited, The Juggling Suns and The Superjesus, to drop a few names. We also opened for Joan Jett, Blue Oyster Cult, Joe Walsh and Bad Company at "JuneFest", a 50,000 seat festival. Our biggest accomplishment to date would certainly have to be winning the Disc Makers "Independent Music World Series", making it to the final round and taking first place over some 600 entrants. Check out the pics.

The sound of Mama Zeus is flavored by the feel and finesse of our two lead guitar players, the tight but loose rhythm section, and fronted by a heartfelt, bluesy female vocal. As with any band, people try to pigeonhole us into a sound or vibe, but we try to stay away from classification as much as possible. What we're trying to do is express ourselves in a way that will last and bring us and other people happiness and a good time.
