Bruce Manaka, author of "Flights of a Runaway Monk" spent 19 years in a monastery, living a life of meditation and contemplation. In his work with sound, he uses ancient vocal techniques of overtone chanting combined with the beautiful tones of crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, didgeridoo, drums, bells and wind chimes to create dynamic vibratory environments that raises the consciousness of everyone present. He experientially shows how sound and their overtones can create profound changes on all levels.
Bruce is also a visual artist, blending traditional Japanese style and modern design. At the core of both his music and art is a basic simplicity and harmony -- a culmination of the years he spent in the monastery.
