Album Notes

"One of the top 10 concerts of 2007" Andrew Malone, Washington Post

Two artists from very different backgrounds met through the website craigslist.org and instantly their sound became recognized as something "unique and fresh". They are currently artists-in-residence at one of Washington DC's top music venues, the Music Center at Strathmore (www.strathmore.org).

Simone, born and raised in Sicily, has received numerous international awards for his work in the field of contemporary classical percussion, while Jeff originates from Chicago and has received his recognition from the local DC Jazz community as well such magazines as Downbeat. Collectively, they have performed in Brazil, China, Romania, France, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, and Germany. Their exploration into new sonic combinations and possibilities has given their music the distinction of "performance art for the ears." From amplified cacti, water drums or gongs to a variety of wind instruments, this duo is creating a sound that fits neither totally in the jazz world, or totally in the classical realm.

The result is a collection of meditative and mysterious post-modern works that is highly satisfying.
