Dallas-based Mandy Spencer is one of those singers that can convince you that what you’re hearing is the only type of music that she sings…until you hear her sing something else. She consistently wows audiences with her versatility and ability to perform jazz, pop and country as if she were trained in that style exclusively. Numerous comparisons to Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt and Trisha Yearwood have followed her throughout her career.
Mandy is lead singer for one of the top variety bands in Dallas. When not singing live, Mandy continues to record numerous jingles and radio IDs for clients around the globe. Her better-known work has been for KABC in Los Angeles, WABC in New York, and as one of the jingle singers for Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 syndicated radio show. These experiences have allowed her to continue to grow vocally, while working with some of the best musicians in north Texas.
Mandy’s debut CD, “What Christmas Means to Me”, is a compilation of jazz, country, rock, and a little Motown. Typically known for singing backup on other independent projects, she decided it was time to put her own stamp on her favorite secular music.
Joining Mandy on this CD are several local celebrities:
Milo Deering, who can be heard on all of LeAnn Rimes’ country albums, a veteran of Austin City Limits, David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, plays acoustic guitar and fiddle on “Silent Night”. Milo is also a member of “Beatlegras”, a highly-acclaimed musical group infusing bluegrass, jazz and classical styles into the legendary music of the Fab Four.
Three-time Grammy® nominee Dave Alexander is Mandy’s duet partner on “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”. Dave has performed and recorded with the biggest names in country music such as George Strait, Toby Keith and LeAnn Rimes, while carving out his own stellar career in the music industry. Dave remains one of the nation's top selling western artists, and can also be heard across the country on a nationally syndicated radio program as guest host of "The World of Western Swing".
Shining on those saxophone solos, Pete Brewer is a Dallas-area mainstay of jazz music. In addition to playing with local big bands, orchestras and small jazz groups, Pete has also been a valuable woodwind player with The Dallas Summer Musicals Orchestra and The Dallas Symphony Pops Orchestra. In this capacity, Pete has accompanied many featured artists, including Rosemary Clooney, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Natalie Cole, Harry Connick Jr., Bernadette Peters and Patti Austin.

Great variety, rich voice, solid musicianship: one for the collection!
author: Rick Peck
Mandy's rich, clear voice backed by some solid musicianship makes this great variety of Christmas songs one for the collection. My favorites were "All I Want For Christmas Is You," "Please Come Home For Christmas," "Baby, It's Cold Outside," and "Christmas to Christmas (Loving You)." (I feel that last song would be a welcome addition to the perennial favorites we hear on the radio every Christmas.) Furthermore, my 8-year-old son loves this CD!

Christmas sparkles
author: Storm Phillips
Contemporary Christmas songs (seldom covered and never this well) highlight this collection. It's a nice holiday potpourri of styles. My favorites are "Merry Christmas, Darling," "Christmas to Christmas" and "All I Want For Christmas Is You." Stuff the stocking of someone you love with this CD.
