Album Notes

In Exodus chapter sixteen, God tells Moses that he is sending manna because He has heard the murmuring of the children of Israel. Imagine their surprise when they wake up and find small white bread crumbs on the ground. These crumbs probably looked neither nourishing nor fulfilling. However, they found more satisfaction after eating them than when they ate ravenous birds’ days before.

The dynamic of this seven member group is much like the story in Exodus. At first glance, many onlookers question the validity of this musical ministry. They have been challenged to fit in to a specific genre of the industry. However, God has blessed the group’s leader, Jovita ‘JoWriter’ Sheppard with a very eclectic writing style. This allows them to holistically embrace different musical styles including jazz, rock, pop, contemporary gospel and even traditional, southern quartet singing creating a connection with audiences of varying backgrounds. Our target audience is simply people who enjoy great music but often find themselves perplexed with questions. Manna loosely interpreted means “The Answer”.

As the first musical act under JoWriter Productions, Inc., Manna is God’s answer to those seeking a genuine worship experience. Their unique style accompanies listeners on their journey from human frailty to the hope of redemption through Jesus Christ.

In December (2006) Manna independently released their CD Sampler which sold more than 200 copies. At present, the group is preparing for a full album release followed by a promotional tour. They have ministered at various venues such as Saint Mary’s Church (3/06), The Garment of Praise Celebration (6/06), Love Fellowship Temple (6/06), Six Flags Great Adventures (7/06), New Life Christian Store & Underground (12/06) and True Worship Church (12/06). Add to their credit the exposure to mass media including a recent performance during the 2006 Holiday Season on Brooklyn Community Access Television (BCAT) and shared airtime with “Dr. B” on 90.5 FM.

This ministry is envisioned in them through God with a mission to deliver the uncompromising gospel of salvation to lost souls. Though pleased with these afore mentioned accomplishments, Manna endeavors to continually edify the body of Christ through Praise and Worship. They remain submitted vessels, sitting at the feet of the Master, waiting diligently to be used.
