Album Notes

Manu continue to play regularly at open mic nights, bars and clubs on the South Coast. Manu\'s live sets usually feature original songs, with a plethora of covers, usually adapted from dance and soul-oriented material, breaking away from the run of the mill.

The name Manu is maori for \'Bird of Freedom\'. It is the national symbol of the maori people of New Zealand. \"The name was used because a Kiwi friend always called me Manu, after a friend of hers back home.\" - Manu

An accomplished debut album, Going for Drives at Night is as sweet as a nut. This album was designed with road trips in mind, and conversations about elusive beautiful women. Keep up the good work bro.

Manu is really talented! Some great acoustic easy listening tracks. Great voice! Vocally sounds a bit like Paul Heaton from beautiful south. Bryan Adams also springs to mind when listening to his music. As tony the tiger would say...GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT!!

a versatile album of acoustic and rock, with bags of emotion

I really enjoyed this album throughout. From the first hard hitting rock track, right down to the last soulful, intimate acoustic song about the death of a friend. It reminded me sometimes of Coldplay and the type of sound they have - mellow guitars, clear strong vocals and a real sense of life to the content of the songs. Particular favourites are MEGO State (rocky, jumpy) and Incandescently (Coldplay-ish, mellow). lookin forward to seeing Manu live at The Bullet Bar, Camden on 6th September! Dunc.
