Marc Black's a lot more than a singer-songwriter and he's as good or better than anything out there. The cd has plenty of funky drive and damn fine songwriting.

My favorite cd of the 20th century. I never take this baby out of the cd player

If you enjoy imaginative approaches to song making, this is a must-add CD for your collection. I've always admired the strength of Marc Black's songwriting and maveled at the live performances by his bands. From the '70s down to present day, Marc's chant-based songs and improvisational rave-ups have kept dancing souls movin and groovin. One might say that his live gigs presaged today's "jam band" scene. This album showcases Marc's ballad side, as well as da funky stuff. Longtime collaborator Warren Bernhardt's production and keyboard contributions are nothing less than steller. "Karen and Betsy" is a warm tribute to all the hippie chicks who ever spun and twirled in front of their favorite band. Other stand-out moments include the heartfelt "Wedding Song,", the atmospheric "Sailor Song" and the wry commentary in "Man Man." I never take this baby out of the disc player!
