Album Notes

Sick of Djs is the first album from Marc Brown, singer and guitarist of Humboldt Squid. Marc combines the sounds of his own life in Santa Cruz with those of antique drum machines, fuzzy guitars, and furry creatures to create a sound arena of total psychedelic trancendence. Refined in the Santa Cruz and San Francisco underground acid scene, Marc's music has no pretentions and embraces influences from around the world. It takes inspiration from the animal kingdom. Marc spent countless days and nights in the California wilderness observing coyotes, hawks, mountain lions, deer and many other woodland creatures. A dedicated practitioner of Astralprojection, Marc Brown has used the last seven years trying to ascertain the musical styles of nearby class M planets. This knowledge increases the tripadelic quality of Sick of DJs. Sick of DJs is also a statement against the retrograde attitudes of our DJ obsessed culture. Marc sees a temporal causility loop forming where transcultural music is folding in on itself like a globular cluster. He hopes that Sick of DJs and the rest of the Ectoplanet Team can helps to form a Temporary Autonomous Zone (T.A.Z.) in which progress toward true metaphysical freedom can be achieved, if only for a few lucky individuals.
