If Motown or Stax Records were looking for the next great set of song writing musicians and a potential legendary lead singer they would probably start with these guys. They are a mix of classic soul & Neo-Soul, in one word…TIMELESS.

Album Notes

"3 years is an excruciating wait to share another conversation with those you love. You try embracing patience, trusting they will return. Yet with clammy hands and a hopeful, unsure heart you eye your cell, check your email, and search for Internet clues on when your beloveds will kiss your ear once more. And just when you had about given up on your maddening relationship, believing Marcell & The Truth had gotten your Hopes Too High with their promising debut, they return, rewarding your loyalties with songs of love and commitment and sagely speaking of Symbols. Seduced, you’re theirs. Listening to The Truth glide through these rhapsodic melodies and the tender, masculine beauty of Marcell’s baritone on these timely, healing lyrics, one imagines this is what it must have been to first love elder griots like Donny in soul’s yesteryears. Hopes fulfilled, you savor this conversation; secretly praying the wait for nourishment won’t ever be so long again."

This album is timeless. Who writes like this these days? Marcell talks about broad topics in such a specfic way. He makes you examine things different. Everytime I listen to this album I hear something new. It's jam packed with sick vocals, great musicianship and the illest lyrics I've heard in years. 5 stars for sure. BUY THIS ALBUM PEOPLE, TRUST AND BELIEVE!!!

My Goodness

This album hits so many places in me. I needed "Seed You Water" to come out of a terrible relationship & played it every day I studied for the bar. "Somewhere in Between" called me to balance my life more and slow down. "Greatest Love" helps me take better inventory of relationships I want to build or consider ending. "Symbols" my lord challenges me so much, I play this every day at lunch to watch getting caught up at work in trying to blend in with shallow thinking. Marcell you have no idea what this music is literally doing for some of our minds and souls, I'm serious. Keep listening to God this is clearly bigger than you, we need it. This is what music is supposed to do. You have a fan for life.

A True Artist

It's always refreshing when an artist creates art. It seems entertainers rarely write music that you can visually see. Marcell writes songs as if he is writing a book that allows your imagination to participate. He writes familiar topics in fresh ways and clever angles to revisit what we may already know but may not have considered it quite that way he describes it or he helps us see things we may not have seen at all. This is more than music; it is art.

This cd is worth every penny!

I hear this album has been out over a year. I never heard of Marcell until recent but my wife and I are recent Christians and we have been trying to find good music that doesn’t keep damaging our thinking about marriage and one another. A friend let us borrow his cd. He wanted it back so I guess that meant we had to get our own. This has been a blessing to us being as though we are a newly wed couple for sure. I bought a copy for me and a copy for her. This is a cd you can enjoy on many different levels Wink Wink lol. We need to support this man’s music.
