Album Notes

Espiritu is a spiritual project that evokes messages of love, peace and unity.
Begun in 2000, Espiritu, Marcel Morejon's debut CD was composed together with good friend and collaborator, Kam Falk. Marcel wanted to create a recording that put as much focus on the music as the vocals. Finally, after years in production, Marcel and Kam are pleased to present a recording that is honest and true to its message.

This is what music is all about. You can tell when someone feels what they are singing. Marcel Morejon is the real deal here.

This is what they mean when they say life isnt fair. After reviewing this for a couple of weeks, I wonder why guys like this arent famous. Excellent voice, beautiful compilation. It takes big ones to redo a Stevie Wonder song, but even Stevie would like this. Someone call Quincy!Good Luck!

R&B the way it was intended to sound

After hearing an album like this it amazes me how bad "pop R&B has actually gotten. Hopefully with the rise of independent artists like Morejon the music will once again find its roots. The most striking thing about this album is the use of live instruments played by outstanding studio musicians. Gee, what a concept! Drums are the cornerstone of Jazz and R&B but with the P-Diddy generation fluff being produced today drums are almost an afterthought. Furthermore, Morejon's writing and vocals are top-notch and not the generic, radio friendly junk that currently clutters the nation's airwaves. Hopefully we will hear more from this fresh and welcome new voice.

When checking out ESPIRITU, I was at first impressed with the melodies and spiritual messages that make each song on this CD so appealing from a writing perspective (I'm also a songwriter). But, now that the songs have become more and more familiar, the vocal and musical performances really stand out as a reminder that the best performances are the ones that allow the song's melodies and messages to shine through, unrestrained and undeterred. Well done!
