Having always loved the subtle tones of the bass, I was entranced by the deft fingers of Marcelo Aedo on my first listen. My third listen brought more discoveries in subtlety. Overall, an alluring mix of world sounds with a hearty mix of smooth jazz. Bravo!

Being a guitarist myself for the last twenty-two years, I use to sit around drop-jawed listening to great jazz musicians like Allan Holdsworth and Stanley Jordan. When I first put in Marcelo, I thought, “if Stanley played bass it might be something like this.” The growling fretless wanders in and out of and in perfect time with a variety of complex as well as simple rhythms – marches, slow and steady rock grooves, world and Latin rhythms, and unique anticipated feels, to name a few. But, unlike many virtuoso musicians, it’s not about showing off. Marcelo has no need, and probably doesn’t even think about it. The music is aesthetically pleasing, to say the least, tasteful, rich. Smooth jazz transforms itself into uplifting orchestration and groovy tempos seamlessly. This is music for the refined spirit.
