It's always a good sign when you can't immediately describe a band by naming a well-known group and adding "ish" to the end of it. This Philly five-piece's list of influences must be a mile long, so trying to categorize their sound or equate it with anything familiar would be a struggle, to say the least. Precise in arrangement, random in rhythm, and stacked with endless layers of sound that become even more prevalent when you strap the headphones on, this album is both a tremendous collection of songs and a genuine musical accomplishment. With an average track length of around five minutes (there's some great seven and eight-minute numbers here) and an average vocalist count of three, you'll quickly realize that not only does each member of the group work really hard to produce these huge sounds, but they've thrown every single drop of themselves into it. The results must be heard to be appreciated, and if you're not afraid to get a little adventurous (comparisons to Gogol Bordello and Mr. Bungle were about as close as I could come), you'll find yourself easily immersed in this disc.
