Album Notes

A native of Portland, OR, Marc Peter was the lead singer and one of the principle songwriters for the band Ebb Tide, which disbanded in 2000. He then continued to pursue music on his own until mid-2006, at which time he reunited with some former Ebb Tide band mates to form new band, Echelon. However, only a year later, Peter left Echelon to focus on his education and growing family.

Marc Peter can be seen performing from time to time in the Portland-metro area at coffee houses, pubs and other small, intimate venues. Of his specific brand of Pop/Folk Peter says his main influences are artists like Coldplay, Switchfoot, Jars of Clay, Emmylou Harris, and Lisa Loeb.

Peter’s first solo album, My King, I Bow Down was an attempt to express some of his personal worship experience which he recorded for friends and family, and for 24:6, the college ministry of Good Shepherd Community Church (Boring, OR) for which he was leading worship at the time.

Peter’s second attempt in the studio was much simpler, but more true to his real musical goals as a pop/folk artist. His honest lyrics, straightforward arrangements and raw vocal delivery lend themselves to his well-received Coming Alive [EP].

Peter plans to release a third solo album before the end of 2008.

In addition to being a musician, Peter considers himself a loyal friend and a coffee-addict. He married his lovely wife, Elise, in December 2003, and they are the proud parents of their first son, Anton, who was born in December 2005. They expect their second child in October of 2007. Peter now works at a video distribution company located in Portland, OR, as an Account Representative. Peter is involved with his local church, Coram Deo Fellowship (Gresham, OR), leading the Home Fellowship ministry including a group of his own. He also occasionally leads worship on Sunday mornings.

Marc Peter feels specifically called to promote a high view of God, to share the love of God and the Truth of the Gospel with those he meets, especially in his community.

Coming Alive is an fantastic demonstration of Marc Peter's all-around artistry as a musician and lyricist. Musically the CD moves from powerful hook grooves on "Let it Out" to deep and passionate rythms on "The Coming Dawn". Lyrically Marc shows depth, and creativity as well as authenticity that connects listener to artist at the level of the soul. An outstanding offering all the way around.

I am a big fan of Marc Peter... and while I enjoy this CD, I was surprised at a couple of things: First, that there are only 5 songs, which isn't bad, because it isn't about quantity, it's about quality, and I do enjoy all of these new songs. Also, compared to My King I Bow Down, I was a little disappointed in the fact that there seems to be more of a focus on romantic boy/girl relationships as opposed to complete worship... My King leaves me speechless and closer to Jesus everytime I listen to it, and this CD just seems a little more shallow. But, that's only in comparision to My King... I am happy with my purchase, but I just wanted to be honest.
