Love Me Tonight is a song about acceptance and then denial...sometimes one person decides, unilaterally, to end a relationship because they don't see any way for it to work out and it leaves their partner lost. This song is that lost partner saying, "I know you're going to leave me tomorrow, so please stay one last night with me and maybe you'll change your mind by the morning; or maybe I'll get so lost in us one more time that I'll stop thinking about our inevitable end."
Musically, the acceptance is in the arrangement; the syncopation in the piano part combined with the Americana sound in the bass line...the denial is in the melody and accented by hopeful, yet dissonant guitar fills and solo.
