Album Notes

Once upon a time, not so long ago, Margaret had a daughter. She called her Adri-Mari or Ami for short. Fast forward a couple of years and Margaret's Daughter has established herself as one of South Africa's top up&coming singer/songwriters. Along with indie producer/multi-instrumentalist Etienne Ghyoot, the duo recorded their debut album in Etienne's "home studio" (read: spare bedroom connected to his PC).

Incorporating different musicians as the need arises, the Margaret's Daughter moniker has become synonymous with great music; be it Ami on her own, Ami & Etienne as a duo or even as a full band. Whichever way they perform, one thing remains constant: Ami's timeless music and unique voice, accompanied by her rhythmic acoustic guitar playing.

REVIEWS

we had a hard time choosing which songs to put into rotation (we like them all!)

We’re excited about our latest artist in our playlist: Margaret’s Daughter. Their music is absolutely wonderful to listen to, and they show off many styles throughout this album; each tune has its own feel and flavor and discovering each one is a joy. The songwriting is very well done on this album, and we have to warn you that you will find yourself singing along in no time. We definitely recommend Margaret’s Daughter for your personal collection.

What a great cd.
author: RUSSELL PAYNE
I brought this CD because of the reference to Heather Nova and was not disappointed. It is extremely well recorded and has many different influences running through it, which makes the music a very interesting listen. I am now eagerly awaiting the next CD due out next year.

A brilliant, great, superb, enjoyable, fab, CD! It's Good as well!

I have now been listening to this cd for around 2 weeks solid! I have to say it did not disappoint when it arrived. I first heard their music on myspace, and after a few exchanged messages decided to buy! It is an extremely well recorded cd, and has a feel of quality about it, which for a small independently run outfit, without the money of the big labels is amazing. My favourite 2 tracks are "Backbeat" because it has a real deep bass that just annoys my neighbors so much and makes me smile! My other fave is because it just sticks in my head, and I walk around singing or humming it for hours after, and that is "Daydream", however picking a fave is so hard as they are all so good. I think this would now be a cd I would take to a desert island with me (of course this island has electricity), well that is until they do another cd! It gets 5 stars from me, I would have given more but it only went to 5! Buy it from the nice people at cd baby and enjoy it as much as I do!
