Singer/pianist Margaret Wilder delivers with an energy that engages and astounds. Her captivating vocals, and rollicking boogie-woogie stylings on the ivories are infectious and she is quickly establishing herself as a formidable musician, singer, and entertainer in the Northwest US.
Classically trained and jazz influenced at an early age, Margaret discovered rhythm and blues while visiting San Francisco. She passed a club with the music pouring out into the street and was hugely inspired. Her passion for rhythm and blues eventually led her to the stage. Currently stepping out as the face of the Margaret Wilder Band, Margaret stretches her legs as a musician, singer, and songwriter by fusing blues, rock, and funk, to create an unforgettable collection of tunes. Think Etta James meets Annie Lennox with a splash of “The Black Crowes.”
Don’t Wanna Wait, Margaret’s debut cd, is quickly gaining momentum as a sought after cd – a must have in any serious music lover’s collection of blues/r&b. “Don't Wanna Wait is rife with great
grooves, strong arrangements and
clever song choices...Strong stuff,
and well worth seeking out,” (Craig Parrish, The Bellingham Herald).
Seven of the ten songs are original and show Margaret’s incredible and expansive songwriting talent. From the funky title track, Don’t Wanna Wait, to the haunting final track, Moment In Time, this is very sophisticated stuff for a debut cd. Throw in the boogie woogie toe tapper, Jump On In, or the honkie tonk tack piano used in Give It Up and it becomes clear that Margaret Wilder is a very prolific and serious emerging talent who is unafraid to experiment and step outside the box.
