Maria Howell is a shining star...a dynamic and versatile vocalist as witnessed by the ground covered on these nine tracks of new soul.

Also an accomplished actor of stage and screen, she was most recently seen in the films "Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls", "Meet The Browns", and in the Lifetime TV series "Army Wives" and feature length movie "Living Proof".

She first drew the national spotlight with her role in the Steven Spielberg film, "The Color Purple", where she was the featured soloist singing "God Is Trying To Tell You Something" in the unforgetable choir scene.

She has opened for the late Ray Charles, and performed with the likes of Nancy Wilson, George Benson, Babyface, and Jeffrey Osborne. She has starred in the George Lucas produced TV series "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles", and on stage in Langston Hughes' "Tambourines To Glory".

Having previously lived and toured in Japan, she has enjoyed international acclaim. She has released several successful CD's all available through her website (link below left).

All of which brings us to the new "Soul" collection. "Soul" is a nine-song package of music written and produced by Charlotte, NC soul label Spirit Records' Bill Bradford. Maria has lent her talents to a number of Bradford's projects over the years, and with this release she takes "Soul" to new heights.
