Album Notes

Maria Mango is truly an artist at life. She's a woman who eludes definition, avoids competition, yet wins recognition. A seasoned traveller and street performer, she carries with her little more than a guitar and a grin, singing her sweet tunes on sidewalks and in subways, in cafes and around campfires. When you listen to her sing, it becomes easy to believe a better world is possible through the simple kindness of the human heart.

Maria grew up in the rural northern town of Flin Flon, Manitoba. Inspired by Nirvana, she began rocking out on her first electric guitar at age 14. When she moved to Winnipeg upon graduating high school she got more into folk music and began playing on the streets, covering her favorite tunes by artists such as Mary Lou Lord, Blind Melon, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Cat Stevens, Dan Frechette, and more, learning to sing whatever songs touched her heart.

Maria Mango's original music has a message of unconditional love that is eternal and universal. Her songs have quickly became campfire classics, with singalong choruses that make everyone feel like a part of it all. Her songs have the power to inspire community, to heal hearts, and soothe souls. If you see her playing on a street corner sometime, stick around for a tune or two and she's sure to make you smile!

On her newest album North Star Road, Flin Flon Manitoba Canada native singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Maria Mango immerses us into her world, a world she paints and colors with her beautiful, raw and soothing voice, a world she tells us all that we can live in if we just open our hearts. Maria takes us into the soul, into the heart, on care-free journeys and meanders in the woods, and into reflections of relationships, both personal and global with her poignant and timeless lyrics. With a natural talent for writing songs that both entertain and enlighten, Maria takes us through experiences both personal and universal, and asks us "is there really a difference?". Upon listening to North Star Road, there is a wisdom and ageless beauty flowing out of Maria, a knack for translating ancient knowledge and universal concepts of love, peace, understanding and compassion into easy to
receive, fun to sing a long with folk tunes. Maria is a true blue folk goddess with a heart of gold, so look her up along the North Star Road!

I met this charismatic street musician today. She overwhelmed me with personality first, then she played an Original from this album. I had to own a copy.Track 6 is even better live ! First impressions count for a lot. She passed the audition with flying colors. A Great sense of Humor and Clever Lyrics frequently Deep. Way above Average. She writes as well as Bob Dylan in a sometimes Dylan influenced way. My personal Favorites are # 6, # 7,# 8, # 10 Earthy Rootsy Light Folk Rock
