Biography


Marianne Lewis is a gifted singer and songwriter born to share her life lessons through the music she creates. Much like the neon signs of her hometown – Las Vegas, NV, Marianne has a noticeable glow and energy. Her spirituality and excitement for life come through in her music, performances and everyday way of life.

Marianne began studying music at age 6 and has remained highly active in both music and theater. Born a twin, in a house of three children, Marianne’s parents were a tremendous influence. At an early age they instilled in her that she could do anything she put her mind to. A living example of these lessons was Marianne witnessing her parents challenge housing discrimination in Las Vegas and winning.

Marianne wrote her first song when encouraged to do so by a friend who saw her potential for writing. Sparked by her ability to rise to the challenge, Marianne began writing numerous songs in many genres, including R&B, Jazz, Blues, Country, and Pop. She is particularly drawn to writing what she has coined as “Unconditional” music - that is, music from all classifications that is heart opening, inspiring and soul expanding.

Marianne’s debut CD, “Mystical Renaissance” is a mix of Unconditional Jazz, Funk and Blues. The Album carries the torch of the “healing truth” through its joyous beats, melodies and toe-tapping rhythms. All songs on “Mystical Renaissance” are written by Marianne.

Prior to “Mystical Renaissance”, Marianne was one of the lead singers in the band, Voodoo Circus, a Rock & Roll/Rhythm and Blues band. Voodoo Circus had a large Los Angeles following and frequented such venues as the House of Blues, BB Kings Blues Club, and The Roxy.

As a solo artist, Marianne performs both in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. She also frequents as a visiting artist at churches, hospitals and schools. Marianne is an Assistant Director of the Agape International Choir, Children’s Choir Director at St. Joan of Arc Church and the Chorus Instructor at New Roads High School.

Quite the renaissance woman, in addition to her music, Marianne, is a film writer, producer and director. Her hilarious short film “Go With The Fro,” has toured the film festival circuit and will soon appear on cable television. It recently won the prize for Best Short Film at the Broad Humor Film Festival in Venice Beach. The film features several songs written by Marianne.

Marianne is a vibrant performer with a magnetic style. Her lyrics are simmered in thought provoking, mind-freeing truth. Her music ignites the body into a contagious motion as it prepares to fly. Marianne continues to follow her mission – to bring healing, joy, and empowerment to the planet through the beauty of the Arts.
