Marie Henderson
Marie Henderson, born in October of 1977, is the young mother of four children and she lives in Geraldine, AL with her husband Eric. Marie grew up in a family full of musicians, and has always loved music. From an early age, she knew that she wanted to be a musician. She was constantly singing and making up songs, a habit that she still has today. She started singing at the age of 5, performing in church and at family gatherings. Marie began listening to many types of music, but she always had a special affinity for rock n' roll. At the age of 14, she taught herself to play the guitar. One year later, she wrote her first song, entitled C.C.'s song, patterning the song after power ballads so popular at that time.
Although rock n' roll was a major influence in her life, she always had a special love for gospel music. Being brought up in church, she has strong love for God, and wanted to write a song to honor Him. So, at the age of 17, she wrote her first gospel song, entitled The Road Not Taken. It was then that she knew what God wanted her to do. Since than, she has continued to write, thankful that God has given her the ability to write and sing songs that deliver a positive message, while using life and its experiences as inspiration. Now her influences include Christian artists such as Steven Curtis Chapman, Clay Crosse, Ray Boltz, and some country artists such as Allison Krauss and Martina McBride. She has also continued to perform, appearing in many different venues, such as Concert in the Park Gospel Day, H-ville, AL, Memorial Day Celebration, Crossville, AL, July,4 Celebration, Crossville,AL, Little Mt. Marina July 4 Celebration, Gunterville,AL Nashville on Stage, Nashville,TN, and Stardust Theater, Nashville,TN, Jeff Hall's Benefit, Albertville,AL, Arab, AL, Community Fair and Harvest Festival Celebration Boaz AL, Tim's 1st Annual Bike Show and Back Yard Jam, Albertville ,AL. Marie is a member of the Alabama Country Gospel Music Association, Where she was nominated Female Vocalist & Entertainer of the Year 2003. Marie was a 2002 semi- finalist on 3 songs that she wrote, and Won 2nd place in the Gospel category. She was a 2003 semi- finalist for 3 songs, and Won 1st place in the Gospel category, and 1st place in the Lyrics only category, in Music, Arts Festival, and Songwriting Competition, in Gunterville, AL.She has recorded a 3 song video in Nashville.TN.And Recorded her 1st CD (So Far Gone) Dec.2003 at Crib Productions Studio in Albertville, AL.Produced by Wayne Mccaffrey. And even though she is a busy mom and housewife, she intends to do what God has called her to do. And that is making music that can make a difference. In Marie's own words.(I am so thankful for everything that God has done for me. He has blessed me with a beautiful family, and given me the desire to sing and the ability to write songs that can speak to your heart, if you'll just listen. I don't pretend to take credit for the songs. I'm just the channel that He uses. Many of my songs deal with faith and holding on to that faith though anything that is put in front of us. I've struggled daily with worry, but Jesus said' who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:27,34. So I try to ' Let go and let God.' It's not always easy, but with God, you can't go wrong.'
