Album Notes

As an introvert, I like best talking one-on-one with people. I prefer to talk of real matters, of the heart. That’s the way I tend to operate in person, and it’s how I think of my music as well.

The album cover photo communicates my vision of what this music is all about. This person is not only looking into heaven, but has flung himself out toward it in a passionate reach, a return of an overwhelming embrace which not only surrounds him but fills him from within. In his need to open himself fully to everything that is flooding him, the reach of his right hand extends out to you, his observer. An energy is seen pulsating through him. He is a conductor, a mediator of this current. Take his hand, and it will reach you, too.

The statue is a symbol of Christians I have met through whom God’s healing life and energy has touched me. I hope as you listen to the music you too will encounter this healing power of God in your own soul.

Musically these songs each have a unique flavor: ‘60s rock (“Led by the Spirit of the Lord”), folk ballad (“Holy Mary,” “Daughter”), country (“Psalm 51”) and jazz-rock (“Deep Inside,” “Deliberate”). The lyrics of these songs are carefully crafted and meant to sink deeply into you. Some, like “Come Into My Heart,” are written in the voice of Jesus Christ speaking to the soul. Others are the soul’s prayer to God. Others, like “Sunday Morning” are meant to cause us to judge our own souls in the light of truth. The song “Daughter,” the only song not written by myself, is a powerful meditation on the healing of the hemorrhaging woman in Luke 8. This is sung as a duet between the woman and Jesus.

God has spoken to me in some way through each of these songs. I would love for you to listen and to tell me what God speaks to you through them.
