Singer/songwriter Marilyn Smith is pleased to present a collection of her latest works, in "Cradle of secrets".
A brilliant production by one of western Canada's finest producers,"John Ellis", Marilyn’s matter of fact lyrics and genuine vocal styling easily marries itself to the bittersweet fusion of alternative country and folk rock.
A seasoned entertainer, performing since the 80’s, Marilyn is at home on any stage and gives 100% to her audience, sharing her perceptions with a pristine voice and unpretentious manner. Her songs are sturdy, melodic and heartfelt.
Inspired by the music of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s by artists such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Linda Ronstadt, Tom Petty, and Roseanne Cash, Marilyn learned guitar and began writing music at an early age. For over 10 years, she toured the western country bar scene throughout British Columbia, the Yukon, and Washington State. She recorded with some of the finest musicians and engineers in Canada and was a finalist in the Vancouver Seeds competition for 2 consecutive years. Although her songs gained her the interest of certain prominent industry executives, Marilyn chose to discontinue her music career for a while to raise her 2 sons, a decision she does not regret. Now several years later, she finds herself performing again, unable to stay away from what she loves to do, and the writing follows, this time with more complexity and maturity.
"Cradle of secrets" speaks of the passage of time, of self realization, of love lost and love found.

Very well put together 'album'. #1 Definitely Signature Song--Cradle is fine Song as well but one that is really growing on me ( funky little tune ) is # 9 Take A Chance on Love. I see Roseanne Cash is mentioned as similar--that would be my closest guess for sound & style comp. but really Marilyn has her own unique sound.Very nice listen. A.
