Mask

by Mario Rosivatz

"Avant-garde" isn´t simply a slogan. These compositions inspire the ghost in the machine at the cutting edge of esthetics. Sonority emerges from combinatorics and imagination.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With MASK I present pieces from 1997 to 2004.
I show the 3 most important personal working principles how they determine the maxims of my esthetic production in the area of the so-called "serious contemporary music":

1. algorithmic pervasion from the intuitive esthetic vision up to the automated generation of the subjective artistic appearance
2. realtime controllability of the potentially forseen music
3. combinatorial potentials as virtually pure substances or Objet trouvés of musical structures

Track 1 - "TOTAL"
(Recorded 2004)
„Total´s“ structural heart is a combination machine.
Its job is easily explained; namely it does nothing else, than to assign a specific chord to the integers from 1 to 4096.
All these chords share the property of composing themselves of the tones A, B, H, C ("Bach"). However, at the same time each of these chords differs from the other by the octave range of its single chord tones.
On the mentioned CD "Mask" the piece is a recording from 2004 in his algorithmic real time version.

There is also a version for 2 pianos, which preceeded the real time version.
