Album Notes

ABOUT THE ARTIST... Mark Abdilla is a concert guitarist, performer who grew up in the San Fransisco Bay Area. Although he was originally influenced by pop music, he fell in love with Renaissance and classical genre while earning his music degree at San Francicso State University and has been performing and recording it ever since.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK... Mark's CDs are unique as they incorporate his artwork of watercolor and oil paintings, as well as photograghs from his travels abroad.

ABOUT THE MUSIC... Mark's CDs incorporate lute and guitar music spanning 500 years. His first cd released in 1999, " FROM A DAY GONE BY , " is mostly solo lute pieces that were originally created in the 15th century. Several of his own compositions based on this style are also included.
"Lovers Lemurs and Lutists" is his second disc that was also released in 1999, contains Renaissance,Baroque and Classical pieces. Perhaps his most versatile disc.
His third disc, "hence", was released in 2002 features an array of sound color created by utilizing Renaissance Era acoustic instuments such as ; autoharp, harpsicord ,lute, recorder, bouzouki, hurdygurdy and percussion. While there is guitar on every piece, this cd offers a unique and colorful blend of tones.
The fourth cd "festival of carols" was recorded in 2003, is strictly solo classical guitar style .Mark felt is was neccesary to produce a nice holiday guitar cd as there is not a lot available in stores.
Most recently Mark released in 2004 what he considers a renaissance masterpiece "renaisance daydream" which contains 22 beautiful lute pieces. It is the only cd that has Mark playing duets,(there are 6 duets on this disc.
