Album Notes

Mark Achuff has performed and recorded a variety of classical guitar music during the last 40 years. He began studies with the accomplished Chicago-land guitarist Verne Fiedler (see WLS radio alumni references.) Relocating to the Los Angles area after high school, Mark continued classical guitar studies at Cal State Fullerton and studied privately with the guitar great George Van Eps. Since joining the American Guitar Society (www.americanguitarsociety.org) in 1984, Mark has performed regularly on their “players platform” where the audience of guitar aficionados eagerly await each performers offerings. AGS hosts a special program each six months where selected guitarists are given an exclusive, extended timeslot in which to perform. In June 2005, Mark was selected and he played a full Brazilian guitar solo set. This recording is based on that performance’s intent to take the listener on a delightful audio journey through the vintage, pre-Bossa Nova years of Brazilian solo guitar music.
